PROJECT SUMMARY
THE CHALLENGE
All Energy Solar, a project developer based in St. Paul, Minnesota, was searching for a solution for the host customer, Trystar, a leading designer, manufacturer, and supplier of electrical power solutions for the entire power market. The customer wanted a solution that would reduce demand charges at their expansive manufacturing facility that could accompany its existing solar PV system. The site is a part of Steele-Waseca Co-Op Electric (SWCE) where the on-peak hours are during the manufacturing facility's prime operating times.
THE SOLUTION
All Energy Solar tapped BYD, a direct storage hardware partner of Energy Toolbase, to procure a turnkey energy storage system. At Trystar’s 120,000-square-foot factory, All Energy Solar deployed a BYD CHESS 120kW, 2-hour energy storage system equipped with Energy Toolbase’s Acumen EMS™ controls software. The Acumen-controlled ESS is situated alongside a 173kW SolarEdge solar system. The primary controls application is Demand Charge Management, and the customer will be leveraging the ETB Monitor platform for live updates on performance and savings.
